Australian Dollar (TWI) — methodology
Category: Economy & Jobs · Unit: index · Published monthly
What this metric measures
The trade-weighted index — the Australian dollar measured against a basket of currencies weighted by our trade, with May 1970 = 100.
Why it matters: The dollar's broad value drives import prices, export competitiveness and imported inflation. A falling index makes imports dearer and exports cheaper.
