Producer Price Index (Final Demand) — methodology
Category: Economy & Jobs · Unit: index · Published quarterly
What this metric measures
The ABS Producer Price Index for final demand: the prices domestic producers receive for their outputs. A leading indicator of consumer inflation.
Why it matters: Producer prices feed into consumer prices: when they rise faster than usual, retailers face pressure to pass costs on.
