What this metric measures

Net overseas migration (arrivals minus departures) by visa and citizenship group, for each financial year, from ABS overseas migration data.

Why it matters: The composition of migration - students, skilled workers, visitors - drives different pressures on housing, wages and services than the headline number suggests.
