Long-Term Unemployment Share: methodology
Category: Jobs & Wages · Unit: % of unemployed · Published monthly
What this metric measures
Long-term unemployed people as a share of all unemployed people, derived from ABS Labour Force Table 025.
Why it matters: The share says whether unemployment is short churn or entrenched disadvantage, which matters more than the level alone.
