New Housing Loan Commitments — methodology
Category: Housing · Unit: $ million · Published quarterly
What this metric measures
The value of new housing loans committed by lenders each quarter — owner-occupier and investor, excluding refinancing — seasonally adjusted.
Why it matters: Housing finance commitments are the earliest read on housing demand and household borrowing, and they respond quickly to interest rate changes.
