Household Saving Ratio — methodology
Category: Economy & Jobs · Unit: % of disposable income · Published quarterly
What this metric measures
The share of household disposable income that households save rather than spend, seasonally adjusted.
Why it matters: A high saving ratio means households are building a buffer; a low or falling one means they are spending more of what they earn, which leaves them more exposed to rate rises or job loss.
