Home Loan Interest Rates Paid: methodology
Category: Housing · Unit: % per annum · Published monthly
What this metric measures
The average interest rate borrowers are actually paying on home loans. The headline line is existing owner-occupier loans; choose a loan type to compare investors, new loans, variable and fixed rates, and interest-only against principal-and-interest.
Why it matters: The standard variable rate is a headline figure few borrowers pay exactly. What households really pay, and how new borrowers' rates differ from existing ones, drives the squeeze on household budgets.
