Commodity Prices — methodology
Category: Economy · Unit: index · Published monthly
What this metric measures
The RBA Index of Commodity Prices in Australian dollars — a weighted index of the prices Australia's key commodity exports fetch on world markets.
Why it matters: Commodity prices drive national income, the budget and the dollar. When they fall, export revenue and government tax receipts fall with them.
